Holly Woodward: Wanting

Wanting Holly Woodward is an artist and writer. These short poems were written by cutting and pasting words from her journals with scissors and glue. “Carapace Debris” came from photos of nebulae and their ‘star nurseries’ in the Hubble gallery. Other works by Holly appeared recently in Mezzo Cammin and the 92nd Street Y’s literary magazine.

Jeffrey Kahrs: Water on the Window

Water on the Window Jeffrey Kahrs was born in the Hague, Netherlands and was raised in California not far from San Francisco. He received a B.A. in Dramatic Literature from U.C. Santa Cruz and an M.A. from Boston University, where he studied with Derek Walcott and Leslie Epstein. In 1988 he helped found a reading series in Seattle called Radio Free Leroy’s, which ran for six years. He worked as a union laborer, longshoreman, cannery worker, and for many years as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Since 1993 he has lived in Istanbul where he has worked primarily as a teacher. Over the last few years he has co-edited an issue of the Atlanta Review on poetry in Turkey, been published in Subtropics, and…
